As the coastal floods continue, flood recovery funds have been approved for 23 local government areas (LGAs) in New South Wales. This means that residents of these areas will be eligible for a one-time payment of $1000 for each eligible adult and $400 for each eligible child. Here is what we know so far about the payments.

The LGAs are:

FUNDING FOR FLOODS

For those affected by severe storms and flooding beginning June 27, 2022. There is funding available – $1000 for adults and $400 for children.

Who is eligible for flood recovery funds? 

A flood recovery payment is made in the form of a lump sum of $1000 per eligible adult or $400 per eligible child. You must live in one of the listed LGAs and have been significantly impacted by the flooding to be eligible.

You qualify if you’re a member of the immediate family of someone who perished in the floods or is still unaccounted for.

You can receive cash compensation even if the flood caused serious injuries to you.

You may be eligible if the flood seriously damaged your home or a major asset there, such as a car, a caravan, or equipment.

How do people submit applications for payments?

Through the Services Australia website, people can apply for the payments. It is advised that applicants submit applications through their myGov accounts, but many will undoubtedly lack access to a phone or the internet. If you require hands-on assistance to submit your claim, Services Australia has established a number of service centers in flood-affected areas, which you can search for here.
