The government works to open the border to more countries, Australians will be able to fly to some Asian and Pacific destinations without being quarantined by August. Australia international travel bubble information is as following:

Within months, Singapore may be the first destination outside of New Zealand to be included in the travel bubble, as immigration and health officials work to lift restrictions on the Southeast Asian country.

Following Singapore, Australia plans to implement quarantine-free travel with other Asian and Pacific countries with low transmission rates starting in August.

In the future, this may include Fiji, Vietnam, and Thailand, as well as Japan and South Korea. Mainland China is also an option, despite diplomatic tensions with Australia.

However, with an average of 500 cases a day in South Korea and 2400 cases per day in Japan, it is unclear if they will be able to meet the criteria to re-open to Australia.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern gave the trans-Tasman bubble the green light after more than a year of closed international borders with Australia.

Mr Morrison said Australia was “not in a position to step on” when asked which countries could be the next to enter a travel bubble.

Despite Australia’s vaccine rollout, he said he wouldn’t comment on the possibility of opening international borders because it wouldn’t be “reasonable.”

“We are seeing people across the world become increasingly vaccinated,” he said. “But the crucial piece of knowledge is that while we know, without a doubt, that the vaccinations that we and other countries are using are very effective in preventing serious disease and protecting, they certainly cannot protect in all cases,” he said.

Several senior government sources told the Sydney Morning Herald, however, that Singapore will be the government’s next target.
