Australia has won a total 17 gold medals so far in Tokyo Olympic 2021. The latest Gold medal was won by Australia, canoe sprint, men’s kayak double 1000m.

The Australian duo of Thomas Green and Jean van der Westhuyzen won Olympic gold in the men’s kayak double 1000m, defeating the world champions from Germany, Max Hoff and Jacob Schopf. Radek Slouf and Josef Dostal, best friends and crewmates from the Czech Republic, win bronze.

Australia took the lead right from the start on the Waterway Sea Forest and certainly anticipated the German pairing charges, but Green and van der Westhuyzen were on the way to claim a surprise win. At the end of the race, the German boats and Australia almost consoled the German powerhouses with the Antipodans.
